Thud!

For those not familiar with the game Thud! I'll explain in short. Thud! originates from the wonderful world, created and written about by Terry Pratchett, called Discworld. It strongly resembles Hnefatafl which is a Germanic / Celtic variation of the more commonly know game Chess.

Currently there's a Thud! board in production and for sale at http://www.thudgame.com, But I want to make something more permanent to style up my living room. Hence the Thud! table project.

The designs are finished for both the table and the pieces that go with it as shown below.


The table will be created from thick plywood, stained in various colors and varnished. The table will be 68cm wide. The outer rim will be 8cm across to support a player's drink without having to put it on the table.

The pieces will be modeled from clay, coated with plaster and casted in tin. These will have a bottom of 3,5cm across to fit the 4cm squares of the board.
